These are the most recent pieces that I have been working on. The first is colored pencil, and sharpie, the second: water color, and the third: ink, and the fourth: acrylic and shells, the fifth: acrylic and colored pencil. (in progress)
Personally I can relate to procrastination, taking long time on works, drawing from outside sources. I find myself putting off works that I am no longer interested. I should just try to finish them though because a finished piece is better than one that is half done. I also take long amounts of time on my works. One of the reasons is because I tend to do tedious projects and details. But i think it would help if i moved a little faster so I wont loose motivation. I also tend to use outside images to use a resource while drawing. But i should try to draw more from my imagination. The third article was really helpful for this problem. My favorite bit of advice i read was, drawing a gesture drawing instead of using a photograph. And it would be a really quick gesture drawing that would help me learn how to use my imagination and create work quickly.
My Concentration:
After discussing with you in class, I narrowed down my options to Under the Sea, as my concentration. I will hopefully be doing some projects that include, jellyfish, fish, turtles, sea plants, shell patterns, close ups of scales, close up of tentacles, and water. Ever since I painted a jellyfish I was inspired to do this theme as my concentration. For boundaries, I thought of braids, and how when I braid my hair there are three sections, that make smaller sectioned when they are put across each other. Each section has their own boundaries.
For this piece I made jellyfish using water color. I tried too see what I was capable of using water color, and I really like the out come. This was just practicing my water color skills. I was also using a new watercolor set.
For the bloom where you are planted project I immediately thought of the Boston Area and our heritage. I included the "Boston accent" in the cahfee, with an emphasis on the A. And we are very in love with coffee here on the east coast. The background is a map of Boston, to really show the connection to the Boston Area.
I used the skills I learned in the value practice to make these pieces. The first piece was done with colored pencils and the second piece was done with watercolor markers.
Dear Ms. Haggerty May, 2016
I earned an A in AP Art/Studio Art II because… I gave my heart and soul into my artwork this year. I expressed my artistic behaviors. I created original artwork that I am proud of. I asked other people for their opinions on my art, to make sure my art would turn out well. I went into every new project with a great attitude. I vowed that I would try my hardest on every project, even if some project annoyed me. When I struggled with projects, I kept restarting when I needed, and pushed through as needed also. I was respectful to my classmates and my teacher. During critiques I would give positive feedback with some constructive criticism. I added my creativity into all my works. I made my works unique from all the others. I completed all assignments to my ability that were given to me. I did not rush through any assignment, and I gave each artwork the attention is deserved. I tried to send a message to my audience through my art work. And finally I came into every class with a smile, ready to take on whatever Mrs. Haggerty could throw at me! |
