My summer artwork after the critique.

My Reflection:
- When I realized that I had to do a still life over the summer I was not very excited. But I am actually very pleased with how my still life came out. I used acrylic for my still life, which is kind of a foreign to me. I had to revise my work a lot while doing it. Looking at the still life, then looking at my painting and making sure I had the right colors. The apple was a challenge, to get the green values and red values together without mixing or covering one of the colors. I learned that It was easier to work with when i kept the paint fresh. If i let the paint sit for too long I wouldn't get the same texture out of the paint that I wanted. Drawing the apple and grapes was not too hard. I actually found the grapes fun even though the shaping was very tricky. From this project, I expanded my acrylic skill, and I am definitely going to make many more works with acrylic.
- The self portrait was not finished because I lost the picture I was basing it off of. But instead I made some water color pieces. The first one is a turtle. I actually used some sharpie with this piece, as detailing along the shell. I realized how much I liked the way the sharpie makes the water color stand out. I was trying to make a variety of colors with my watercolor palette. It was harder than I thought. I ended up repeating colors because I couldn't think of any more shades or combinations I wanted. I like my turtle, but I think it might be missing something but I don't know what yet. Then for the second piece, it was really just for fun. I made some lines and some chevron patterns, and used a variety of colors. The water color was cooperating fine. I would make the lines different shapes, sometimes by accident other times it was planned. Then the sharpie really tied it all in together. It made my pattern from before almost look 3D. I made lines going through all the white parts. At first I used a ruler to make sure lines were straight, but then I just freehanded it, and ended up liking that style better. These two pieces were really fun and then show a lot of my watercolor background from the year before. These pieces are original because I wasn't basing my art off of anything when I made them. I was really focused and hard working. I wasn't really thinking about what my final product was going to be, I just painted and drew away.
